The following serves as a guide for refurbishing concrete, brick, and stucco walls with the Tonkin Bamboo Fence Panels.
Putting up one of our Tonkin Bamboo fences is simple. It is no different that any other kind of fence installation. It simply requires posts and rails to support the panels. Typically, 4x4 wood posts and 2x4 horizontal rails are used. For the posts, dig holes about 18 inches deep and spaced 8 feet apart. You will want to concrete the 4x4s vertically in the ground. Next fasten two rows of 2x4s horizontally to the 4x4 posts using screws or nails. One horizontal support should be about 6 inches from the ground and one about 6 inches from the top of the fence.
To fasten the bamboo panel to the support system, follow the next set of instructions below:
If you have a nice cordless drill you can makeover any concrete wall. All you need is a friend, some concrete screws 2-3/4" (Tapcons work well), a concrete drill bit (comes with the box of screws), and some treated 2x4s (cedar or pine).
Here's what you are going to do...
Firstly, anchor your 2x4s to the wall running horizontally. One will be attached near the top and one near the bottom (as shown above). It is important to make sure your 2x4s are running level along the wall. You can use an existing mortar line or just use a level and make marks on the wall where you are going to attach your 2x4s.
-
Drill a hole through your 2x4s into the base material using the drill bit provided with the screws. The depth of the hole must be at least 1/4" deeper than the concrete screw embedment.
-
Insert the point of the concrete screw into hole and screw drive using a nut drive or #3 bit tip. Do not over torque the screw.
-
Fasten 3 or 4 screws in each 8ft 2x4. This will be plenty.
-
Once you have fastened your 2x4s along the length of the wall you can refer back to step 1 of the Tonkin Bamboo Fence installation and you are done!
